This work in progress will be my identity piece. As most of my projects it started as an experiment. Originally it started as creating something with paper mâché. Then once I created the face I was just going to water color it, but it just looked flat. So my peers gave me some feed back and I went with the bedazzling option. My plan is to cover the rest of the face with colored gems. For the board that its on I may do a background or just have the gems start to get more dispersed as they go further from the face. I hope the final piece will come across how I want it to and have the effect of questioning the meaning of identity. |

Whatever effect you used on the bottom photo transformed this piece totally and I think it's dynamite! The juxtaposition of the paper mache surface (which almost looks like stone or clay) with the gems (which now glow) really creates a mood and make the view ask questions. Very cool...and worth considering before you change or add any more to the piece...
